Favorite part of being part of the Rec’d team:
What I love the most about being a part of The RecD team is that we truly are just one big family. We are goofy, and mercy do we have a blast when we are all together!!
How long in North Carolina?
I have been in North Carolina, from New Jersey since 2002—24 years and have loved every second of it! Except for the hot and humid summers down here. My favorite place to cool off during the summer is definitely the mountains. West Jerrerson area is a small little town. That has a ton of little shops with trinkets and other small or large home decor items. You can also go to the state parks right in Iredell County to camp, swim picnic, hike and even launch a boat. My husband and I take off up there for a nice cool down and much needed quiet time.
What’s a “hidden gem” you think most people miss?
There are so many little hidden gems among the mountains, foothills and the Piedmont, an adventure can always be found if you just slow down and take it all in! I recommend Joeys in Sherrills Ford. Boss Hogg has amazing BBQ, Butcher Boys has an out-of-this-world buffet, especially when the wake and bake munchies kick in.
What is your favorite 'spot' in town to relax or spend a day off?
My favorite spot to hang out on a day off is to 4 wheel right near the Blue Ridge Pkwy in Wilkes County.
What’s surprised you the most about living in North Carolina?
What surprised me the most about living "The lake life" in NC has been the number of vacationing people I see during the spring and summer months. Like right here!! We meet many new customers each season, and many return year after year.
What I wish more people knew about North Carolina?
I wish more people knew just how amazing North Carolina truly is. There is always something to do and most of the time the people are exceptionally kind.
Where is the best place to watch a sunset/sunrise, or take a great photo?
Public place to watch the sunset is anywhere on the lake. I am right there, if I can I will find some pictures for you. There are a couple of places to go eat right on the water on the Iredell County/Catawba County line. Sunsets there are stunning. Something you can catch music on the water at Apps and Tapps, Toucans and The Blue Parrot.
If you had 36 hours to show someone the best of this town, what would you do?
We would rent a pontoon boat at the Lake Norman marina and enjoy the Lake Norman all day, followed by a nice fire pit overlooking the lake either camping in the camp grounds or stay in one of the room at The Landing.
